GLENFIELDS ESTATE AND HILL END ROAD RECONSTRUCTION, STAGES 1 -5
LOCATION: Glenella
CLIENT: Stockland Developments
DATE COMPLETED: July 2004
REQUIREMENTS: Stage 1 of the project, involved major earthworks, an arterial road widening under traffic, and the construction and commissioning of all services and facilities for the first 43 allotments. Also included in the project were bulk earthworks (totaling approximately 150,000m2), compaction, topsoiling and trimming to balance the 176 allotment site.
CHALLENGES: Undertaken as part of the GlenGlenfields Subdivision, the widening and reconstruction of Hill End Road required substantial stabilisation. Construction was made more difficult due to the underlying rock which required various methods of extraction including hydraulic jackhammer and chemcial expansion. The work was undertaken under traffic and adjacent to a local primary school. Also extensive consultation was required with officers of the Pioneer River Improvement Trust (PRIT), due to the boundaries of the estate with Goosepond Creek.
